The Powder River Energy (PRECorp) Foundation Board of Directors has given $5,000 in direct support to the Pine Haven Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to upgrade its defibrillator technology.
The donation was made in conjunction with the 5th annual Carl Mirich Memorial Poker Tournament which raises funds for community improvement projects in Pine Haven.
This year the Pine Haven EMS will benefit from the tournament’s proceeds. “Committee members volunteer their time and effort, and all proceeds go toward a predetermined cause,” said volunteer Charlie Gulley. “It is time to upgrade the EMS ambulance mounted EKG heart defibrillator equipment and machine. The equipment can no longer transmit vital health data to area hospitals while a patient is in transport, degrading the level of care needed in critical situations. We are very grateful for this tremendous award from the PRECorp Foundation. The commitment the Foundation shows to the communities they serve is truly remarkable.”
“The community of Pine Haven has been raising funds for this project since the summer of 2023,” said Foundation Executive Director Joe Roth. “Pine Haven and the adjacent Keyhole Reservoir are major recreational areas drawing thousands of visitors each year. It is important that the local first responders have updated equipment to ensure people suffering from medical emergencies have the highest level of care when they need it most.”
